  • Lunch seminar: Sami Languages in Swedish Schools – The Short Story 2019-10-31 How have Sami languages been - or not been - used as language of instruction in schools in Sápmi? Which differences can be found between the use in the Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish parts? And, what does it matter? Celebrate the European Day of Languages and the International Year of Indigenous Languages by learning about our local indigenous languages from historian Otso Kortekangas.
  • South Saami – a short introduction 2019-10-31 Sámi languages are today recognized national minority languages in Sweden. If you are curious to learn more about them, how they sound and who their speakers are, join us on Wednesday the 23rd! On the occasion of the Sámi language week (Gielevahkoe/ Giällavahkkuo/ Giellavahkko/ Giellavahkku), doctoral student Richard Kowalik, who is writing a grammar of this language as his Ph.d. dissertation project, will introduce us to one of the most endangered Sámi language, with only about 200 hundred speakers: South Sámi.
  • Diversity and Inclusion in Language Teaching 2019-09-20 Can learning activities designed for visually impaired students benefit more language students? Do audio descriptions provide a barrier-free access to culture? In what ways can studying sign language improve speaking and interaction skills in spoken languages?
  • World Voice Day 2018: The King's Speech and a scientific review on stuttering 2018-04-17 Celebrate the World Voice Day 2018 at Språkstudion! We'll watch the movie The King's Speech and have a discussion afterwards about stuttering.

She has been active in Morocco, Spain and Sweden as a language teacher, dramatist, translator and interpreter. In March and April, Språkstudion, the Department of Romance studies and Classics and the Moroccan Embassy in Sweden invite you to story telling seminars with Sofia El Fakir. She will tell us a story on what the most important thing in life might be: money, land or words?
