- Lunch seminar: Sami Languages in Swedish Schools – The Short Story 2019-10-31 How have Sami languages been - or not been - used as language of instruction in schools in Sápmi? Which differences can be found between the use in the Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish parts? And, what does it matter? Celebrate the European Day of Languages and the International Year of Indigenous Languages by learning about our local indigenous languages from historian Otso Kortekangas.
- South Saami – a short introduction 2019-10-31 Sámi languages are today recognized national minority languages in Sweden. If you are curious to learn more about them, how they sound and who their speakers are, join us on Wednesday the 23rd! On the occasion of the Sámi language week (Gielevahkoe/ Giällavahkkuo/ Giellavahkko/ Giellavahkku), doctoral student Richard Kowalik, who is writing a grammar of this language as his Ph.d. dissertation project, will introduce us to one of the most endangered Sámi language, with only about 200 hundred speakers: South Sámi.
